Hi! I’m Catherine.

I’m a Toronto-based photographer who’s in love with the process of making pictures of my own family and yours, that illustrate the essence of who we are. The thread that runs through all of my work is embracing what’s imperfect, messy and human. I consider art-making of any kind to be a spiritual practice that can bring a sense of healing and balance to both maker and viewer. I believe that family photos are tools for unlocking and reviving memories and feelings for decades and generations to come, and that its the everyday stuff that we’ll want to remember most.

other creative stuff i do

I love making things! Check out my murals, illustration and other art here.

Other than art

My favourite things include: beings in groups of four or less (#introvertsunite), music produced by Teddy Riley, rearranging furniture, talking about feelings, petting dogs, eating popcorn aggressively by the fistful, watching documentaries and reading non-fiction.

A note on mental health

I believe darkness helps us appreciate light. It wasn’t until I went through a very dark time during my pregnancy that I decided to put myself out there as an artist. I summarized what I learned in the image below, which I consider an offering to anyone suffering from Harm OCD or Intrusive Thoughts.
